The Limerick Desmond Football League caters for and promotes Junior, Youth and Under 17 Soccer in West Limerick. Its role is to foster and develop the game of Association Football in the district. The league was founded in 1955 and its jurisdiction is an area bounded by the N20 main Limerick to Cork road on the east, the Cork county bounds on the south, the Kerry county bounds on the west and the river Shannon on the north. Included in this area are the towns of Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Adare, Rathkeale, Askeaton, Foynes, Glin and Dromcollogher.
